The mood swings in bipolar disorder is quite different from ordinary mood swing. The mood swings in bipolar disorder is usually intense, last for days, weeks, or months and could interfere with the ability to function in day to day life.

Depression: Depression is a mental health condition characterized by undue sadness, loss of interest or pleasure, feelings of guilt or low self-worth, negative thought, disturbed sleep, poor appetite, tiredness, hopelessness and poor concentration. It is a long-lasting and recurrent disorder; and one of the main causes of disability world –wide.

Anxiety disorder: Anxiety disorders are group of disorders that share features of excessive fear and anxiety and related behavioral disturbances. These disorders include: generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and specific phobias.

Personality disorder: Personality disorders are long-term patterns of behavior and inner experiences that differs significantly from what is expected. A personality disorder is characterized by a way of thinking, feeling and behaving that deviates from the expectations of the culture, and this causes distress or problems associated with functioning, and lasts over time. Personality disorders include: antisocial personality disorders, avoidant personality disorders, dependent personality disorders, borderline personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorders, histrionic personality disorders, schizoid personality disorders, schizotypal personality disorders, paranoid personality disorders, and obsessive-compulsive personality disorders. It is important to treat individuals with personality disorder because if left untreated, the disorder can be long-lasting.
